Charlene Camille Buchmaier, age 63, of 5697
Shadow Valley Road, Blairsville, Ga. 30512, died on July 29, 2008 as the
result of Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia which she struggled with for four
years. A stem cell transplant took place in early May which was the only
option left to cure this illness and extend her life. Charlene went to
the Lord very peaceful in her sleep with her husband holding her hand,
loving her then as he did all their life together.
Charlene was a very giving, selfless person with a strong
love of life. She gave of herself completely and had an uncanny ability
to make others feel special. She listened and cared for all those around
her and made the most out of any obstacle life would present. Her
gentleness and grace were unmatched and her creativity came alive in
everything she did; knitting, beading, gardening, cooking and her
natural ability to transform a house into a home. Her grandchildren
adored her for her childlike nature and playfulness. Above her fireplace
floats a fairy holding a feather outstretched granting everyone their
hearts’ desire. Happiness for others was her greatest wish.
Charlene was the daughter of the late William G.
(Bill) Harris and Anita Elizabeth Harris. She is survived by her husband
of 41 years, Richard Heinz Buchmaier, daughters, Erica Deanne Standard
and Kristin Anita Cascio, sister Suzanne Kristin Roy and her husband
Robert Eugene Roy, brother W. Gregg Harris and his wife Andrea
Burke-Harris and sister-in-law Ellen MacLellan. She is also survived by
her beloved grandchildren Kyle Richard Standard, Megan Kristin Standard,
Elizabeth Erica Cascio and Anaka Nichole Cascio, her nieces Camille
Yvonne Heistand, Gwyneth Anne Harris , Jennifer MacLellan and nephews
Gavin Wesley Harris and Robert S. MacLellan.
A private family service was held at the Mountain View
Funeral Home in Blairsville with Father Tom Martin followed by
cremation. A memorial event will be held in the fall which was
Charlene’s most favorite season. To honor Charlene’s life friends may
make contributions to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or for
beautification projects at Saint Clare’s Episcopal Church in
Blairsville.
