Mr. Talmadge James Hughes Jr. age 56
of Old Gumlog Rd. Blairsville passed away on Tuesday April 27,2010 at
his home following an extended illness. Mr. Hughes was born on
Jan.23,1954 in Towns County, the son of Lillian Dyer Hughes and the late
Talmadge James Hughes. He was a lifelong resident of Union County. He
was a loving husband, father, son, brother and grandfather. He was
preceded in death by a stepson, Nathan Clifford Silvers. Mr. Hughes was
a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church.
Surviving Mr. Hughes are his loving wife of nine years, Linda Sue Hughes
of Blairsville, mother, Lillian Hughes of Blairsville, one daughter and
son in law, Krystal and Calvin Kitchens of Blairsville, one stepson,
George Eric Silvers of Blairsville, two sisters and one brother in law,
Mary Ann and Michael Wright of Blairsville, Joan Gillispie Hughes of
Blairsville, seven grandchildren, Katelyn, Josh, Austin, Becky, DeLayn,
Nathan Chase and Christian, many other relatives and friends also
survive.
Funeral services will be held on
Thursday April 29,2010 at 2:00pm from the Mountain View Chapel with the
Rev. R. L. Martin, Rev. Tommy Jones and Rev. B. L. Anderson officiating.
Special music will be presented by Ben, Libby and Angie Burrell and
Jimmy Thompson. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers,
Charles King, Michael Stroud, Lamar Dyer, Eric Silvers, Cody Gibson, J.
M. Grizzle, Michael Wright and David Dockery. Serving as honorary
pallbearers will be Tony Guy, Dustin Gillispie, Jim Buchanan and Paul
Brown. Interment will follow in the Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Wednesday
evening after 6:00pm.

Mr. James Marvin Gentry age 79 of
Morganton Hwy. Morganton passed away on Tuesday April 27,2010 at his
home following an extended illness. Mr. Gentry was born on March 12,1931
in Rome, GA., the son of the late Max Gentry and the late Johnnie May
Brown Gentry. He was a veteran of the US Army of the Korean War. He
loved to hunt and fish in his spare time. He was a loving husband,
father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather. Mr. Gentry attended
Fairview Baptist Church.
Surviving Mr. Gentry are his loving wife of fifty five years, Bobbie
Jones Gentry of Morganton, two sons and daughter in laws, Randy and
Angie Gentry of Blairsville, James and Stacy Gentry of Locus Grove, one
daughter, Patricia M. Gentry Parks of Forest Park, GA., one brother and
sister in law, Max and Glenda Gentry of Abilene, TX., six
grandchildren, Amy, Todd, Ashley, Kayla, Adam and Jared, three great
grandchildren, Emma, Elizabeth and Landon, many other relatives and
friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on
Friday April 30,2010 at 2:00pm from the Mountain View Chapel with the
Rev. Tommy Jones officiating. Special music will be presented by Rev.
Tommy Jones. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Carol
Weaver, Randy Gentry, Jack Jones, Chris Gibson, Todd Parks, Adam Gentry
and Jared Rice. Interment will follow in the Concord Baptist Church
Cemetery. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on
Thursday evening from 6-9pm.

Mrs. Constance Sommer age 96 of Manor
Ridge Rd. Woodstock, GA. passed away on Monday April 24,2010 in the
Brian Center following an extended illness. Mrs. Sommer was born on June
21,1931 in Boston, MA., the daughter of the late Arthur Ronald Kimpton
and the late Elizabeth Dale Mann Kimpton. Constance was a loving mother,
sister and grandmother and will be missed by all. She had been a Teacher
for many years. She was preceded in death by a grand daughter, Kiva Dale
Friedmann and two sisters, Betty Kimpton and Marjorie Bulfinch. Mrs.
Sommer was of the Christian faith.
Surviving Mrs. Sommer are one daughter and son in law, Lisa and Brian
Sommer of Woodstock, GA., son, Kimpton Sommer of CA., one sister,
Allison Phemister of OR., two grandchildren, Kether Friedmann and John
Sommer, many other relatives and friends also survive.
A memorial service will be held at
a later date. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that
memorials may be made to the Cherokee County, GA. Humane Society in
memory of Mrs. Sommer.

Mr. Philip Harold Hancock age 72 of Admiral
Point Hiawassee passed away on Wednesday April 28,2010 in the Mission
Hospital in Asheville, NC. Mr. Hancock was born on June 26,1937 in
Oglesby, IL., the son of the late Philip Hancock and the late Irene
Kaczynski Hancock. Mr. Hancock retired from General Electric/KAPL with
over thirty five years of service. He was a veteran of the National
Guard. He enjoyed wood working, sports, coin collecting, fishing,
camping and nature. He was preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis Pike
and a brother, Roger Hancock. Mr. Hancock was a member of St. Francis of
Assisi Catholic Church.
Surviving Mr. Hancock are his loving wife of forty seven years, Marie
Chinnici Hancock of Hiawassee, two sons and daughters-in-law, Philip
Dennis and Alice Arledge-Hancock of Cumming, GA., Steven and Jo Ellen
Hancock of Woodstock, GA., one sister and three brothers and
sisters-in-law, Raymond and Toni Hancock of Wisconsin Rapids, WI.,
Judith Hancock of Stevens Point, WI., Howard and Ruth Hancock of
Bonduel, WI., Victor and Carol Hancock of Sparta, WI., brother-in-law,
Edward Pike of Gainesville, FL., five grandchildren, Nick, Drew, Megan,
Vika and Zhenya. M many other relatives and friends also survive.
A memorial service will be held at
a later date at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church with Father
Richard Wise officiating. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family
requests that memorials may be made to St. Vincent dDe Paul Society % of
St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church or to The Rathbun Center in memory
of Mr. Hancock.
