    Mr. Billy Ray Dease Sr. age 58 of Sleepy Hollow Lane Blairsville passed away on Thursday April 29,2010 in the Union General Hospital following a brief illness. Mr. Dease was born on Nov.16,1951 in Chester, SC., the son of Luke Deas and Thelma Catoe Deas. Billy loved fishing, horses and his dogs. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother and grandfather. Mr. Dease was of the Baptist faith.

    Surviving Mr. Dease are his loving wife of thirty years, Judy Railey Dease of Blairsville, four children, Billy Ray Dease Jr. of Concord, NC., Sonya and Tomas Perez of Concord, NC., Danny and Linda Melton of Blairsville, Scott and Tali Dease of Blairsville, seven brothers and sisters, Bobby and Diane Dease of Kannapolis, NC., Junior and Shirley Dease of Kershaw, SC., Don Dease of Talking Rock, GA., Pat and David Wright of Kershaw, SC., Pam and Tommy Plyer of Jefferson, SC., Brenda and Ed Teems of Talking Rock, GA., Polly Pless of Concord, NC., five grandchildren, Danielle, Destyne, Jasper, Cooper and Hinsli, many other relatives and friends also survive.

    Funeral services will be held on Sunday May 2,2010 at 2:00pm from the Mountain View Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Young officiating. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Gerald Patterson, Danny Melton, Ronnie McDonald, Brandon Hughes, Justin Satterfield and Mickey Whatley. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be, Cooper Lance and Jasper Dease. Interment will follow in the Meadow View Cemetery. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Saturday evening after 6:00pm.

HAZEL LOUISE HOLBROOKS

    Mrs. Hazel Louise Holbrooks age 78 of Holbrooks Rd. Blairsville passed away on Saturday May 1,2010 in the Union General Hospital following an extended illness. Mrs. Holbrooks was born on Oct.20,1931 in Union County, the daughter of the late Ben Thomas and the late Maude Brown Thomas. Hazel loved to work with her flowers, gardening and canning. She was a loving mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arvie Holbrooks, a son, Jerry Holbrooks, a daughter, Joan Elaine Holbrooks and a grand daughter, Jennifer Lynn Holbrooks. Mrs. Holbrooks was of the Baptist faith.

    Surviving Mrs. Holbrooks are seven children, Frankie Mae Seabolt of Blairsville, Mark and Annie Holbrooks of Blairsville, Lynn and Pam Holbrooks of Blairsville, Janet and Danny Holbrooks of Blairsville, Susie King of Blairsville, Johnny and Sarah Holbrooks of Blairsville, Tommy and Tracy Holbrooks of Blairsville, two sisters, Maggie Nelson of Blairsville, Lula Payne of Blairsville, twenty two grandchildren, Roger, Steven, Evelyn, Tina, Arlis, Wesley, Amanda, Mendy, Nathan, Joni, Margaret, Amy, Becky, Carrie, Jennifer, Brittany, Robin, Curtis, Mike, Kayla, Josh and Hannah, eighteen great grandchildren, many other children and grandchildren not born of blood but of love, many other relatives and friends also survive.

    Funeral services will be held on Tuesday May 4,2010 at 2:00pm from the Mountain View Chapel with the Rev. Waymon Lovell, Rev. Jimmy Tanner and Rev. Kevin (Keith) Collins. Special music will be presented by the New Liberty Baptist Church Choir and Brittany Holbrooks. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Wesley, Nathan and Josh Holbrooks, Curtis Stephens, Mike King, Steve, Arlis and Roger Seabolt. Interment will follow in the Harmony Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Monday evening after 6:00pm.

DONNIE GRANT ANDERSON

    Mrs. Donnie G. Anderson age 75 of Raspberry Trail Blairsville passed away on Monday May 10,2010 in the Union General Hospital following an extended illness. Mrs. Anderson was born on Nov.20,1934 in Union County, the daughter of the late Major Grant and the late Dora Shuler Grant. She was a native and lifelong resident of Union and Towns Counties. She loved gardening, traveling, fishing and spending time with her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son,Cecil Lee Anderson IN 2005,a grandson, Charles James Anderson in 1988 and by a brother, Sylvan Grant in 1990.Mrs.Anderson attended the South End Baptist Church.

    Surviving Mrs. Anderson are her loving husband of fifty eight years, Robert Anderson of Blairsville, five daughters and four son in laws,Ann and Ottis Franklin, Brenda and John Chambers, Dora Davenport, Peggy and Ken Denning all of Blairsville, two sons and one daughter in law, James Anderson, Brandon and Melisia Anderson all of Blairsville, two brothers and one sister in law, David Grant of Murphy, NC., John and Shirley Grant of Dallas, GA., four sisters and three brother in laws, Ruby McClure, Dorothy and Joe Vandiver, Louise and Charlie Payne, Ossie and Vernon Jones all of Blairsville, grandchildren, David and Tascha Franklin, Jamie Anderson, Samantha Franklin, Carey Rich, Chris Anderson, Kelli Denning and Summer Anderson, great grandchildren, Maddie Franklin, Jada Lovell and Kenzie Hullett, many other relatives and friends also survive.

    Funeral services will be held on Thursday May 13,2010 at 11:00am from the Mountain View Chapel with the Rev. Aud Brown officiating. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Bill Anderson, Charles Anderson, John Anderson, Kenny Jones, Kenneth White and Bill Jones. Interment will follow in the Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Wednesday Evening from 6-9pm.

ROBERT GORDON PETERS

US NATIONAL GUARD

   Mr. Robert Gordon Peters age 78 of Everett Rd. Blairsville passed away on Wednesday May 12,2010 following an extended illness. Mr. Peters was born on Feb.7,1932 in Tampa, FL., the son of the late P. Hubert Peters and the late Carolyn Martha Slocum Peters. He was a veteran of the US National Guard. He was a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather. Robert loved his church and loved the Lord. Robert also loved the North Georgia Mountains. He was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Peters and a brother, Henry Peters. Mr. Peters was a member of the First Baptist Church of Blairsville.

    Surviving Mr. Peters are his loving wife of thirty one years, Ruth Ann Kauffman of Blairsville, two sons and daughter in laws, Robert (Bud)Peters and Mary Soars of Blairsville, Marshall A. and Barbara Peters of State College, PA., two step sons and one daughter in law, Eric K. and Vanessa Harvey of Houston, TX., Daniel R. Harvey of Blairsville, one sister and brother in law, Carolyn and David Maclaren of Clearwater, FL., seven grandchildren, two step grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.

    A memorial services will be held on Thursday May 20,2010 at 11:00am from the Mountain View Chapel with Dr. Fred Lodge officiating. Special music will be presented by Dan Lockmiller. In Lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund or to Gideon’s International in memory of Mr. Peters. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 10-11am.
